History
My interest in woodworking and music started early in life. In 1987 I started working in a small, high end cabinet shop, I continued there for four years, returned to college to study studio art and mathematics.
In 1994 I was fortunate enough to be offered a position by Richard Hoover, at Santa Cruz Guitar company. I accepted the job and went to work in the neck department, learning all aspects of that particular job, including inlay and neck carving. As time went by, I was promoted to department supervisor, and in 1998 to shop foreman, a position I held until I left SCGC in 2002 to start my own shop. This position gave me experience in all aspects of the company. Everything from maintenance of tooling, developing new tooling, quality control and production management. I also worked with Richard in the planning and development of new projects and ideas. This experience built in me the desire to pursue building on my own, so I began putting together my own design and building the tooling.
I now am building one original design, a concert size, with the intention of others to follow. I follow traditional, conservative design ideas with my own subtle refinements in apperance and construction. My desire is to provide a world class instrument.
Throughout my life, music has given me much, and has always had a large place in my life. It's my hope that I can use my skills in building to inspire players to new levels.
